- Content Management Systems (CMS) offered by Internet Advisor use Web 2.0 technology to provide you and your staff the ability to update and add content to your website as easily as writing an email.
Advantages include the ability to add virtually an unlimited number of pages (at least into the several thousands!), edit and maintain content, and offer the ability to change the look-and-feel of your entire site by updating only a couple of files on the server.
Disadvantages include a higher up front cost, involve a short (1 to 2 hour) training session for your staff, and require a commitment from the client (you) that the site will be maintained and updated (or pay a small retainer to Internet Advisor for our staff to update content for you).
- Static websites are "traditional" websites, where each page is created and edited manually. Layout may be done with HTML tables or using Cascading Style Sheets.
Advantages of a static site include lower upfront costs, especially if based on a pre-existing template instead of a completely custom layout.
Disadvantages include higher ongoing maintenance costs, and difficultly changing the look-and-feel of your site (if using HTML tables for layout) since each page must be updated manually.
